Here’s another fun fact: sake has a lot in common with beer—but only when it comes to how it’s brewed. Both beverages undergo a brewing process where starch is converted into sugar before it’s fermented into alcohol. But that’s where the similarity ends, and sake takes on its own life.

For starters, sake is brewed using only four ingredients: rice, water, koji mold, and yeast, with no hops, bitterness, or carbonation.

Sake also has a higher alcohol content than beer, generally around 15-20%, which gives it a smooth richness without the need for any additives.

If you’re used to beer, you’ll find sake lighter in taste, more delicate, and yet bursting with flavors that range from floral to fruity to earthy. It’s like discovering a whole new kind of drink that’s familiar yet refreshingly different—a flavor journey that’s uniquely sake. :-)
